Permanent Art Collection

The Haywood Art Museum proudly presents its permanent collection, showcasing seventy-six years of artistic excellence from 1949 to 2025. This collection features selected works by teachers and graduates of the Haywood Institute, beginning with its founder, Mr. J. D. A. Perera, and extending to contemporary practitioners. Organized chronologically, the exhibition is divided into six sections, each representing a distinct phase in the Institute’s development and its enduring contribution to the country’s artistic heritage. These include the Government College of Fine Arts (1949–1959), the National Institute of Arts (1960–1974), the Institute of Aesthetic Studies, University of Sri Lanka (1975–1979), the Institute of Aesthetic Studies, University of Kelaniya (1980–2005), and the University of Visual and Performing Arts (2005–2025).
